Gallery: Housekeeping (1987)
Enjoy this selection of hi-quality captures I took from the Blu-ray of the Bill Forsyth film Housekeeping, one of my favorite movies of the 80’s. If you haven’t seen it, this piece of Americana (though photographed in British Columbia) is something of a female Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn story. There’s a lot of gentle humor, stemming from a cast of eccentric characters. It’s also a somewhat darkly complex human interest story with an ineffable, poetic conclusion. Consider this piece of non-criticism nevertheless an argument to see it, or to enjoy it on its own this way. They bring to mind Renoir frescos.
